A luxury Lamborghini-branded yacht capsized off the coast of Miami Beach late Sunday afternoon, sending dozens of high-profile social media influencers scrambling for safety in a chaotic scene that quickly drew national attention.
The 63-foot Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 — a sleek, high-performance yacht known for its supercar-inspired design — reportedly flipped during a high-speed turn about a mile offshore, according to eyewitnesses and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Authorities confirmed that at least 27 passengers were onboard, most of whom were prominent influencers invited to a private launch party hosted by a luxury lifestyle brand. While there were no immediate reports of fatalities, several guests sustained minor injuries, including cuts, bruises, and signs of shock from prolonged time in the water.
"We heard screaming and saw people clinging to floating cushions and coolers," said Maria Delgado, a nearby boater who assisted in the rescue. "It was like a scene from a movie — drones were still flying overhead, even as people were being pulled out of the water."
The yacht, which retails for over \$4 million and boasts twin V12 engines and a top speed of 60 knots, had been part of an exclusive event marketed as a "once-in-a-lifetime oceanic content experience."
Initial reports suggest the vessel may have become unstable during an aggressive maneuver, but investigators have not ruled out alcohol consumption, overcrowding, or mechanical failure as contributing factors.
Social media quickly flooded with partial footage of the incident, with several guests live-streaming moments before and after the capsize. Hashtags like #YachtFlip and #LamboLaunchParty began trending on X and TikTok within hours.
The U.S. Coast Guard has launched a formal investigation and said it will review the yacht's capacity limits, the qualifications of the operator, and the conditions at sea during the incident.
"This was a luxury vessel designed for performance, but it still requires careful operation, especially with so many passengers onboard," said Lt. Commander Brian Ellis of the Coast Guard.
Salvage crews are expected to begin recovery operations later this week. The yacht remains partially submerged as of Monday morning.
